Members "Wild Game Potluck" at Nov. 19 Membership Meeting

The regular November meeting of the CVCC will include the annual members Wild Game Potluck on Thursday, Nov. 19th. Last chance to clean out the freezer before the WI Deer gun seasons begin. Share your favorite recipe or bring something special. This will also be your last chance to enter the Big Deer Contest for the gun seasons for only $5.00. Come and share your bow hunting and Minnesota hunting tales and get current on what's happening at the CVCC.

September Winner of the Raffle for Serious Sportsmen

The September drawing in the CVCC's Raffle for Serious Sportsmen was held at the monthly membership meeting on Thursday, September 24th. The lucky winner was Dylan Thurk. Our next drawing will take place at the October 29th at our member meeting. Good luck to all who purchased tickets.

Fall Fundraiser Banquet Sat. Oct. 3rd

The CVCC Fall Fundraiser is coming up soon - Saturday, Oct. 3rd. Tickets are still available - $50 each and includes a chance to win cash or firearms prizes plus a sit-down meal of baby back ribs with all the trimmings and an opportunity to win many other quality prizes at the raffles. The Henry Golden Boy engraved 75th anniversary .22 will be there with tickets available at one for $5.00 and five for $20. The winner will be drawn at the Fundraiser. Tickets will also be available for the Henry Big Boy .357 with 75th anniversary plaque inletted in the stock. The winner of this gun will be drawn at the December CVCC membership meeting.

Hunter Safety Education Classes at the CVCC will continue in 2016

A recent article in the Westby Times indicated that the CVCC was considering NOT having Hunter Safety Education classes in the future.
The is only applies to the regular Classroom classes we normally held at the Coon Valley Village Hall in February and March. New Wisconsin DNR rules require that regular classes be completed within a maximum of 3 weeks time and take no more than 19 classroom hours. This is far less time and hours than our traditional CVCC class requires and is not a requirement that our instructors feel we can meet to effectively teach to Safety component of Hunter Safety. According to the State DNR this change was made to satisfy "customer demands and provide better customer service" as well as enforce consistency in all classes offered throughout the State.

CVCC Work Day - Sat. Aug 15 - 8 AM-Noon

There will be a work day this Saturday August 15 from 8 am-12 pm in preparation for the chicken que. We have lots to take care of in preparation for the chicken que so any help will be much appreciated. The Chicken Que is on Sunday the 16th from 11:00 am till chicken is gone.

Due to popular demand, we are having a second shoot this summer. Come on out and join us for some fun. We will also be shooting a Junior category at this match.

Rules

1. Open to any centerfire rifle that was issued to any military organization, manufactured before 1960.
2. Rifle must have issue stock and issue iron sights.
3. Ammo should be of military power, either surplus, factory or reloads.
4. No shooting jacket or slings.
5. $10.00 registration fee for each shooter. The course may be re-shot for an additional $2.00 fee. The same shooter may shoot additional rifles for a $5.00 fee.

The June drawing in the CVCC's Raffle for Serious Sportsmen was held at the monthly membership meeting on Thursday, June 25th. The lucky winner was Greg Schmidt. Our next drawing will take place at the July 30th at our member meeting. Good luck to all who purchased tickets.

July Shooting Events at the CVCC

The Weekend of July 18 & 19 will see two shooting competitions - on Sat. the 18th will be a dual Muzzleloader Shoot with shotgun trap and rifle silhouette competitions beginning at 1:00 PM. On Sunday the 19th will see the annual Vernon County 4-H Shooting Sports competition shoot beginning at noon with archery, air rifle, .22 rifle and shotgun trap competitions.

Thursday night open trap shooting will continue beginning at 6:00 PM except on meeting night the 30th when shooting starts at 5:00 PM.
